D.Terrano Art School
About
The best accomplishment of teaching art for so long ,is my students' results and their succes... and that's my success, too. I am a lifetime artist , let's say that I started early ,in 1960 as an Art School student in Romania and it never ended... I am a published book illustrator, with about 17 books I have illustrated here,in the USA, working on the 18th one... and that's another thing I love. Before the pandemic I used to teach in my own Art gallery and art school in Kirkland, WA, but I moved to Olympia and I closed the business to continue classes online. I teach ever since children and adults ,beginners, intermediate and advanced, drawing, painting and book illustration...
I love teaching all levels of students, each one is an amazing, very exciting new experience for both student and teacher... Art is an universal language, because in the artistic world images "talk"...

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First session is free of charge, we use 30 minutes to know each other, talk about interests and explain the first classes process and art supplies needed. I use Zoom, each class is 40 minutes, or 2 combined sessions of 40 min. each . Prices are $20-35, depending on age and level of instruction. Classes are exclusively online because the pandemic is still pretty dangerous and on Zoom I can teach at my home in Olympia, while most of my students are in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland or Everett.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My art education started early, I was in the first grade (1960) ,when I was admitted in a vocational art school in Arad,Romania ,until 1972-1973, then in 1978 I graduated at North University of Baia Mare Romania with a BA in Arts and Literature, my major in Visual arts. I was an artist and an art educator my whole life.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching short after I graduated college in 1978.
