About
I love meeting students where they are at.
First, as a team we take 5 minutes to do some breath centering work, so we can be fully present during our tutoring session and the best results possible.
Then, we evaluate what we know, where we need to go and start from there. I find it is the best place to begin. This way students can experience small successes, which will build on them gaining the confidence they need to achieve the bigger goals they set for themselves.
The process of witnessting this progression in students brings me great joy and satisfaction, especially when the student is involved in the whole process; defines the objectives for themselves, creates an action plan to attain those goals and finally achieving those goals, through hard, consistent work.
I thrive on the continued element of learning that I get to experience with each student. I enjoy using challenging questions to guide students in discovering their own path to success. In my opinion, when students own and are part of the process of knowing how to acheive their goals, results are much durable and lasting, creating an independent, resourceful and a goal oriented student. I love watching students step into their knowledge, skills and learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I enjoy starting with a conversation. I like to learn about their likes and dislikes, hobbies and talents and get a glimpse as to how they think about the world and themselves.
I start every session with 5 minutes of 'mindfulness', this helps clear the mind and energy, so the focus is solely on the lesson and achieving our set goals.
I enjoy finishing every session with the question "What was the best part of today's lesson for you? What did you learn about yourself today?" It is a good way to get the student reflecting back on our the study session and allow the student to give voice to what he/she gain from every session, in learning more about themselves.

How did you get started teaching?
I taught ESL in Korea and I loved working with children so much I decided to get my teaching degree and pursue the vocation on a professional level.
I found that working students was a great motivator to keep myself holistically healthy. I felt that the more I felt whole and healthy (mentally, emotionally, physically) the better I was able to give to my students, inspire and motivate them to be the best version of themselves.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from the ages of 3 upto 13 years old. I have worked with special needs students and have been able to assist them in experiencing academic success, which has had great influence on their self-confidence.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I did some on-line tutoring for 3 months when the Pandemic started. My student was only 8 years old and had little to no motivation for school academia.
In the span of 3 months, her writing improved dramatically, an element she had been struggling with for while. She gained confidence in descriptive writing and found joy in articulating her ideas on paper.
Her math processing ability increased as well, by simply introducing her to the daily practice of MadMath (10 minutes where we practice simple Math equations with the intention of solving as many as we can in 5-10 minutes).
I find great joy when success is achieved by students, anchors me deeper into the love of teaching and supporting.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try the teacher first.
Assess what you could potentially gain for a lifetime, in terms of skills and tools that will always be of service to you.
Be open to what you NEED from a teacher, keeping in mind that you might have resistance in the beginning.
Mostly importantly, have a conversation and see how the energies feel together.
Good luck!
