About
I have worked with students of all ages, all levels from beginner to professional. I wear a few hats, playing, coaching, teaching, even tutoring.
I try to make lessons balanced, fun, but challenging. I keep the bar high and balance it with a lot of grace.
My studio policy is "Make mistakes enthusiastically"
I love when students have breakthroughs. That 'aha' moment is so gratifying as a teacher. I have spent the bulk of my career on the stage, and love seeing younger musicians catching hold of the fire.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students, I like to start with an assessment of learning style, if the student is younger, less advanced. Generally, I want to make sure that mutual understanding and mutual respect exist, so I try to create an atmosphere that is both comfortable and at the same time, challenging.
If the student is a child, I like to include the parent, in anything that facilitates my knowing the student better.
If the student is older and/or more advanced, I establish a professional approach that is both challenging and at the same time, working specifiy towarda goals. I believe that goals are a good thing, as they give something tangible to work towards , botb long term and short term.
With beginner and intermediate, I explain how to practice in every lesson. I want students to become equipped to learn and master music, without a teacher, eventually.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied with Eugene List, in NYC, Frederick Marvin, and then took extensive training in how to play in a safer, ergonomically correct manner, thus avoiding carpal Tunnel and Tendonitis (common hand injuries for pianists).
In addition, I completed some training in Switzerland and throughout, did numerous work with singers and instrumentalists.
I have worked collaboratively, professionally, with musicians since 1977. As well, I have worked coaching ensembles and individual musicians. I enjoy working with instrumentalists as well as vocalists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Generally, I am $25/ 30 minutes i often go over and do not charge for the overage.
I am a little flexible in pricing.
I do expect cancellations to give me at least 24 hour notice, but I also understand that one cannot always plan getting sick or injured.
