Testing fees vary by school, but beware of schools that charge more than $20 per test.

Reviews for Wilmington karate classes

Since I am a 78 year old woman who is very uncoordinated I was looking for an individual to help me learn tai chi as opposed to taking a class. I wanted to improve my balance as well as core strength. Luke has helped me do both. He has also taught me self defense and meditation skills which have helped me improve my over all self confidence. He is very patient, kind and thoughtful. I look forward to continue working with him in the future.

Charles is an amazing trainer, he knows the intricacies of the musculoskeletal system and how it coordinates with different exercises with different weights. He’s not a trainer that will leave you to your own devices and give you an exercise to do and that’s it. Charles takes the time and the focus to place it on your through every rep and movement, he guides you on the focusing of the particular muscle being worked to achieve the highest quality of work done.

My family became involved with the American Martial Arts Institute 10 years ago when my (then) 7 year old son expressed an interest in learning martial arts. AMAI was the only school in our area offering Chinese Martial Arts, and also one of the few martial arts schools that appeared to focus more on the students as individuals, rather than their trophies displayed in the front window. Over the years, our entire family has participated at some level in the full range of classes that AMAI has to offer - Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Combat Fitness, as well as a variety of seminars focused on specific skills. My son has also been a member of their Leadership team for 6 years; in addition to self defense skills learned through kung fu classes, Leadership class has enhanced both his critical thinking and problem solving ability while enabling him to accumulate the skills he needs to teach martial arts to others. The instructors are top notch and model the qualities of perseverance, modesty, courtesy, discipline and self control that true martial arts strive to instill. I urge anyone interested in leaning kung fu to give AMAI a try.
