About
I am totally committed to having students learn the theory and note reading as well as ear training that will enable them to gain competance in their instrument while having fun doing so. My students learn to play or sing every kind of music they enjoy as well as composing their own.
I have been playing piano since the age of seven and studying music, voice and piano for fifteen years before going to Temple University and earning a degree in music.
I have 25+ years experience in teaching music with great success and joy. I have taught ages 4 to 84 and am very pleased that students on both ends learn easily and have fun doing so. Students have described me as patient, supportive and flexible.
I have had many jobs in my life, including Mom, Grandma, nurse and attorney. I always come back to music. It has been such a joy in my life that I am thrilled to share it with others.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I spend the first lesson getting to know the student. What are their goals? What musical experiences have they really enjoyed? How does music fit into their life now and in the future?
What musical knowledge do they already have? (Usually more than they are aware of!)
What are realistic expectations regarding practice time? What, if any, support will they have at home, (parents, partners?)
What fun things will they be able to do with their new knowledge?
Later we will go over their instrument, voice, piano, organ, etc. How it works, how to use it to their best advantage, how to use its strengths to their best advantage.
I review with them how theory and composition will help them learn more easily and what fun it can be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree in music from Temple University. Twenty-five+ years teaching piano.
