I enjoyed the topics that Mr. Boswell lessons/class headlined. He got into specific details about his topics and also showed some of his tips and tricks. He offered assistance to the students and helped each person one by one with the basics of perfecting their camera and their craft. Mr. Boswell even gave advice on the business side and things that he conquered to get where he is today with his business. I loved this class and it has helped me develop my own photography business. I had an excellent experience with A. Boswell Media Services. I especially enjoyed his “Basics Of Photography” session. In this class he unveils the mysteries of the manual settings of modern digital cameras... making concepts such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO easy to understand for beginners. Prior to the class, I mainly shot in “Auto” and let the camera dictate the shot. After taking the class, I learned to change my settings so I could “create the shot.” Maneuvering on “the manual side” of the camera equals reaching new heights in photography. It’s well worth the time and investment.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We start with a free consultation to determine your goals and your current knowledge and skill level. Then we determine what you need to learn to get you where you want to be.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a B.A in Radio/Tv Broadcasting. I have taken photography, lighting, production, writig and film classes. I have experience in writing, photography, videogray, radio & tv production, directing, live tv directing and producing, creative director, and I have co hosted and hosted a live broadcast radio talk show.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Our pricing system is based on hours spent during instruction. Our basic rate is $45 an hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I taught my first class in 1993 when I was asked to teach sections of a basics of photography class that I was a student in at Alabama State University. My instructor said I had a way of breaking down topics that my fellow students could understand. I also taught videography techniques in training classes, as the Director of Multi Media for an investigations firm from 1998 to 2004.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have taught college students, high school students, professionals and adults.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I recently held a free forum for up and coming photographers. A student from one of my basics of photography classes thanked me for helping them lay a strong foundation and for sharing the ups and downs of the photography business. Taking my class had better prepared him for what he would face when he started to sell his services and deal with clients.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for someone who knows the basics and who has experience in the business.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Look inside of yourself and figure out what your goal is. Your true goal. What do you really want to accomplish?
