About

Playing and teaching the French Horn is my career. I have been a professional horn player since 2001, and have been teaching all levels of students since 2002. I have performed regularly with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 2006, and with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 2001. In 2021 I became a full-time member of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. I also serve on the faculty of the University of Montevallo as horn teacher, lecturer, and horn pedagogist.

Other professional experience includes performing with the orchestras of Columbus GA, Lake Placid NY, Mobile, Atlanta Opera, Huntsville, Tallahassee, Memphis, Charleston, and Chattanooga.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, which has proven immensely helpful with teaching strategies and effectiveness.

Recordings include works with the Atlanta Symphony, Alabama Symphony, and Lake Placid Sinfonietta. Major tours include Carnegie Hall in 2012 and 2014 with the Atlanta Symphony, Carnegie Hall in 2012 with the Alabama Symphony, and Disney Concert Hall in 2006 with the Atlanta Symphony.

Adam Pandolfi worked with my 16 year old son who had only been playing the French Horn for about a month. He switched from playing a trumpet in his High School Wind Ensemble. I sat in on the first few lessons until my son could drive himself. I am very impressed with Mr. Pandolfis ability to engaged with my son on a beginner level and his patience with him. I believe that vast majority of Mr. Pandolfis students were beyond a beginner level. Mr. Pandolfis knowledge of music and the workings of a French Horn is extensive. Quite frankly, I loved when he would play something in the lesson as an example to my son. I feel very fortunate that my son was paired with Mr. Pandolfi for his lessons.

I have taken lessons for a few years before taking under Mr. Pandolfi. I was shown new waya to approach the horn that really worked for me, which also opened my playing range by a noticable amount. I highly recommend studying under Mr. Pandolfi as a horn player who is either serious about playing or just wants to have a fun hobby and get feedback from time to time.

    Frequently asked questions

Lessons typically would be on a weekly basis, with beginners (6th grade or younger) having a 30 minute lesson, intermediate students (7th-8th grade) having a 45 minute lesson, and more advanced (high school and above) would require 1 hour lessons. These are really the minimum recommended lesson times per week, but if more time is requested, I am happy to accommodate that request.

Adult students are also welcome, and would typically have a 1 hour lesson per week.

I have over 20 years of professional orchestral playing experience, and 20 years of teaching experience of all age ranges and all ability levels. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology which has helped tremendously in constructing effective teaching methods. I have been trained by many of the best horn players and teachers in the world. This training includes traditional methods, as well as the newest modern methods of horn playing, and I have incorporated a mix of the best of both worlds into my own playing and teaching.

    30 minutes - $25

    45 minutes - $40

    1 hour - $50

I got started teaching when friends in college asked me things like..."How do you do this" or "can you help me with that?". It quickly blossomed into an active private teaching studio.

Teaching became very natural for me very quickly due to the amount of thought that I put into my own playing, as well as my background in psychology.

I would recommend finding a teacher based on their amount of professional experience playing and teaching, as well as their rapport with the student.
