Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It varies from student to student. I help them the way they best learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked as a teacher aide almost every year since sixth grade. I also have always tutored family and friends, and neighbors around me.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a standard pricing system. It almost always starts at $25/lesson but varies based on the student, grade level, and difficulty. I am always willing to work with low-income parents/students also, offering lower services to accommodate their needs.
How did you get started teaching?
It's always been a second nature. I also volunteer as a student teacher!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When my sister brought back a spelling test I helped her with. She got an A and was smiling from ear to ear.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for what helps you, not what helps them. If it causes you more trouble to go with them, find someone else. These are your grades.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It really is no safe road when choosing a tutor, everyone teaches differently. Just do a test run, and continue doing this until you find your fit.
