Sheila Parsons Art-Venturea
About
I've been teaching watercolor and drawing for several decades. I love to teach and have spent most of my career teaching literally all over the world on one and two week long workshops. My students often return again and again to my classes.
I enjoy working with teens through senior adults. There is nothing more thrilling than watching a student "get it".
I was so thrilled to be named Outstanding Individual Artist in the Governor's awards of Arkansas in 1986 and recently an award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts fromFaulkner County. My website is [email protected]. You can see some of my work there and on FineArtAmerica.com.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I love getting acquainted with a new artist. Usually we spend time talking and looking at former work if there is any. This allows me to understand the student,s current expertise, their expectations of the class and me as the teacher. I work with my students one on one even in a small group class. I request they look at my work at SParsons.com. I am not requesting that students emulate my work. I want to help them paint their way better!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
YI have a masters in art from Pratt Institute in New York. I have spent a lifetime teaching and producing art. I’ve worked with literally all ages and levels of experience.
I formed Art Ventures and for 25 years took students all over the world on study-travel tours. I have continued to hone my own skills as teacher and artist through study with many of the great artists in the medium of watercolor.
I work with students in drawing and watercolor mainly, but have worked with oils and acrylics as well
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $100 for a three hour private class and $30 for a 5 hour small group class per student if the students come to me. It is at least double those prices if I go to the student. i do three to five day workshops with groups. Fee are determined when booked.
How did you get started teaching?
