What is your typical process for working with a new student?
i always ask a new student how they most want to create, perform, and express themselves with music. I tell them to pretend as if all limitations were irrelevant and they could do anything. Then I work with them on a few exercises to do to start them with fundamentals, and together we come up with a song they would like to start with and a practice routine they can check off as they compete.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied voice and piano at Westminster College, played in about a dozen bands since starting on guitar in high school Jazz Band, taught music at ALC Mosaic and School of Rock Cornelius in NC, and I have been teaching privately since 2011.
