Prime by Design is unique because we don’t only work on skill development but also help athletes get stronger, faster and jump higher.
We specialize in footwork, speed & agility. We believe that all performance starts from balance & footwork. From there we add blocks like legos and improve ball handling, shooting and basketball IQ.

How did you get started teaching?
I was an elementary and jr high school teacher for 7 years. Through my teaching career I taught and coached the school's jr high and high school boys and girls basketball team.
As a teacher and coach I took my teams to the playoffs 6 out of the 7 years. These were the school's first appearance in the playoffs I'm school history.
As a teacher and coach I experienced the positive affects that sports had on young student athletes. Playing sports helped the students build self confidence, team work, self discilpine, and drive to achieve personal and team goals.
One of the biggest changes I saw was the students athletes attitude towards academics. Kids started to care about grades and learning in order to maintain their spot on the team but also enjoyed the challenges of academics.
After leaving teaching I decided to continue coaching in order to provide student athletes with opportunities outside of their school season. Keeping their focus on long term goals like graduate and college became the big focus of my efforts as a coach and trainer.
I believe sports and training provide a great foundation for self reliance and self discipline which young adults need in order to achieve their goals after high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
Worked with junior high, high school and college athletes.
I also train adults all the way to age 65.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Trained a division 2 offensive lineman. He came to me to work on lifting technique. After our initial movement assessment, I notice many range of motion limitations. We spent the whole first session working on his mobility.
I was surprised that an athlete at this level was not getting the coaching he needed to maximize his lifting and athletic ability.
The following day we worked on his bench and Olympic lifts. Again I was surprised that an athlete at that level had not been given the coaching to maximize his ability.
We both left our session happy with the progress. I am confident that the athlete will improve on the amount of weight he will be able to lift safely and solid technique.
Looking forward to working with him during the summer to get him ready for his season.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure to ask the teacher what their long term plan for you is. A good teacher has an idea of how they want their student athletes to progress.
Also, make sure your teacher listen to your concerns and takes your likes and dislkke into consideration. This will lead to a more robust individualized plan that will keep you engaged and will also lead you towards your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Make sure you know exactly what your goals are and don't be afraid to let you teacher know what they are. A great teacher will take this info and talior a plan to suit your needs.
Make sure you state your goals clearly and make them specific. I want to be a better shooter is not clear or specific. A good example of a clear and specific goal would be, "I want to be a better shooter off the dribble" or " I want to be a better catch and shoot shooter". This will provide the teacher with valuable information to plan and program a session and long term training program.
