About
I am passionate about helping people of all ages and abilities unlock their inner artist and experience the joy of creating in a fun and encouraging atmosphere! Whether it's one-on-one or in a larger group, I set you up for success and teach you step-by-step, first by demonstrating, then by giving you hands on guidance throughout the process! I share tips & tricks along with techniques & terms that educate and elevate your art!
I am a self taught artist and have been drawing and painting since I was a young child. Although I didn't study art in college, it has always been at the core of everything I do. I have had the privilege sharing my talents and knowledge in a variety of ways throughout my life.
•I had a successful business painting residential and commercial murals and portraits for fifteen years while my children were young.
•I taught preschool ages 3-5 where art was a central part of daily classes.
•I taught art K-6 in public school with a special certification.
•I volunteered countless hours in our schools. I partnered with teachers to write grants for funding and I painted murals that transformed dull drab hallways and dim cafeterias into bright beautiful inspiring places to learn!
•I taught art in a private Christian school, tayloring the lesson plans to their Bible based curriculum. •I've had families hire me to teach private summer art enrichment lessons to their children.
•In 2019 I started my mobile paint party business, More Paint Please!
•In the past several years (until the pandemic) I volunteered as the painting instructor at my mother's assisted living and memory care facility and raised thousands of dollars for the Alzheimer's Association by teaching paint parties to large community groups.

Let's have some fun creating together!
I enjoy working with everyone, but I take particular pleasure in teaching people who believe they have zero artistic abilities and have gone through life saying , "I can't even draw a stick figure!" I love that art can be a fun relaxing activity the brings people across multiple generations together, gets them connected, and celebrates freedom of expression!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I interview new students to discover their needs and skill level. Once we determine their goals, I present a plan and offer a few project options so they have a choice in the subject matter. We schedule a place and time and start the lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self-taught artist who has had many professional mentors along the way. I was fortunate to graduate from a high school with an excellent fine arts department which offered many college level classes. Although my bachelors degree is in communications, I chose most of my elective credits in the fine arts field. I am always learning new techniques and exploring new mediums to expand my knowledge and continue to improve as an artist and instructor.

How did you get started teaching?
I was very involved as a volunteer in my own children's education. I partnered with their teachers from preschool on up. I began substitute teaching and because of the positive feedback, I was being requested by all the art teachers in the school district. That led to receiving a special certification to teach Art K-6 in the public school. I was hired by many families to teach their children private art lessons in the summertime. A private Christian school recruited me to teach art to their students soon afterward. Then a few years ago I expanded my business into mobile paint parties and now I teach all ages and abilities.
