About

Amanda Richardson here! First, I love connecting with people. My focus is functional alignment and static poses, building strength, body awareness, and flexibility. I tailor to your needs and modify accordingly in a safe methodical manner. I'm also Trauma Informed Certified so if anyone is struggling with any trauma I can take that approach if needed.

I absolutely love meeting and helping people to heal physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Yoga has saved my life in so many ways. I know how healing this practice can be. I enjoy the light beaming off a student's face when they realize they're capable of so much more than the limits they have put on themselves. Yoga is much more than a physical practice and anyone can practice, regardless of their physical state.

    Frequently asked questions

I ask the student about their goals, yoga experience, and medical history. I then plan poses, sequencing, and meditation accordingly. I always focus on foundation and alignment before proceeding to a vinyasa if requested or needed, unless the focus is a Trauma Informed Yoga approach. Regardless  of how experienced a practitioner is as there's always room to grow.

I'm 200 hr Hatha Yoga certified with a strong background in Iyengar Yoga, 50 hr Trauma Informed Certified through Bodywise Foundation, currently in a 500 Healing Emphasis Yoga Therapy program and almost finished with my Master Reiki Certificate. I've been a yoga practitioner for about 16 years and teaching for the last few years.

I decided I wanted to become a Yoga Teacher when I realized how powerful and healing it is. I've suffered from anxiety, depression, congenital heart defect, and arthritis for many years and this practice has healed me in so many ways. I still struggle from time to time but the improvement outways the struggle.

I've taught Yoga in addiction recovery centers for years. That being said..many of my students were resistant but had to as it was apart their program,  beginners, or had convinced themselves they couldn't based off of their current physical state. I taught them that know matter what their physical or mental state,  yoga is for everyone. I've taught in a studio, worked with children, and private sessions.

I had a student in a recovery center that was completely against yoga. He had neuropathy and limitations physically due to lifestyle and surgeries. Slowly but surely he was engaged in the practice  and admitted that it was beneficial, he wanted to continue when discharged from treatment.  I could see the difference in him physically, emotionally, and spiritually without him speaking a word. It was very powerful.

Come with an open mind and ready to let go of ego. Yoga is an inward practice. Not just physical but a spiritual practice. Be ready for a variation of yoga practices and never kill your body for the glory of a pose.

Think about any physical, emotional, and/ or mental conditions as sessions can focus around a particular need.
