Painting 4 Fun
About
I love teaching beginners who want to start painting with acrylics or want to improve their skills in acrylics. I prefer teaching landscape, flower and abstract paintings. I have displayed my art at various locations in Kansas and Arizona and usually enter paintings in Gold Rush Days held every February in Wickenburg, AZ where I have won 2 ribbons so far. I belong to the Wickenburg Art Club, Sun City West Art Club. I am also a member of WHAM where I have had my studio since January of 2015.
I started my business, Painting 4 Fun, in 2010 from my home in Wickenburg, moved it to Barnaby Street Shoppes in Surprise in October of 2011, then to the WHAM Art Center in January of 2015 where I currently have my studio. My business is designed to provide paint parties and classes for various groups to paint a one, two or three hour acrylic painting in just one session with step-by-step instruction and individual attention. No experience is required and all supplies are provided.

It is so uplifting to patiently help someone find or increase their talent in painting. I just love seeing the look on their face when they step back from their work and realize what they have accomplished!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I talk a little bit about the paint, some generalities in working with acrylics and the care of the brushes. I talk with the student about the things they like and their favorite colors. We then take a look at some of my paintings to see what they like in those paintings such as the color, composition and the feeling they experience.
Then we decide which painting with which we will start. we talk about some of the strokes that will be used for that painting and we get started.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been painting since 2001 and have taken workshops from a variety of artists. Since each artist has their own strength and favorite techniques, I have it to be invaluable in giving me a well rounded education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It is a simple system of $25.00 per hour with a 50% discount on the first lesson. This first lesson also comes with a money back guarantee.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always found that I have the gift of patience in teaching others. I have done volunteer teaching at my Church and work as a paid teacher as well and have been complimented many times on my patience and how much fun my class is. I started teaching when I started my business in 2010 to teach painting parties. This very quickly lead to commission work and individual classes as well as the painting parties and group classes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with ages 4 to 93 and enjoy them all!! I have also worked with students with dementia, autism, cancer patients and the mentally challenged.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A student had a partially finished painting of flowers that she wanted to complete. She just loved those flowers and had been searching for someone to help her complete it. She was so happy to receive guidance on how to fill in certain areas to make sense of the rest of the painting. I gave her some suggestions and we continued to talk about it throught the process as I helped her with composition and painting strokes. She was so happy with her finished painting and was so excited that she could finally hang it on her wall.
