Mindfulness Meditation Coach, MBSR, Goal Setting Short Term And Lomg Term With Best Self Journal And Accountability As Desired
About
I love to help people accomplish things they did not know they could to improve their quality of life. I teach mindfulness meditation, MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) as well as life coaching. For life coaching I use the Best Self Journal to set goals, both short-term and long-term, well-being and accountability, if desired.
I share these methods that have changed my life and greatly increased confidence, well-being, peacefulness and self compassion. These are the tools I have used to accept life and myself as well as be grateful and determine my most important goals.
I am intuitive, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent. I help people have a more fulfilling, empowered life where they can enhance their wellbeing, live each day well, discover their inherent unique gifts, appreciate the moments and increase their wellbeing each day.
And…have fun along their path!
My greatest fulfillment comes from helping people. First I was a veterinarian, helping pets and their people. I had a brain infection that changed my life and abilities. Out of this I have had to learn to love myself, accept changes and make the most of them by discovering my "why" and joy. I returned to art and began a long path of discovery in wellbeing. I can also use creative visualization to discover your purpose and set priorities.
Goal setting, planning, mindfulness and gratitude have helped me live each day just where I am in gratitude. I love to share the methods and practices that have greatly improved my life and see the positive directions they can help people take.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To first have a discovery/visions session to set goals and expectations for the student of what they most want to achieve. This depends on the student's choice of process and which modality or combination they would like to use: mindfulness, meditation, movement and art.
I teach meditation, mindfulness, mobilephotography as well as creativity/drawing and painting, swimming and help with life goal short and long term goal setting .. I talk to the student and find out their goals and dreams with this creative endevor, life goals or swimming and explain the options for the class. We can change the class focus somewhat based on the goals and aspirations of each student. This communication is ongoing , and we can agree on specific goals so really each class is unique.
I also teach self discovery through creative experiences and goal setting, tangible results and actualization of big dreams by defining tangible steps and realistic time lines.
I was a triathlete, coached both athletes and adults afraid of the water to swim. I enjoy helping people break down large goals to small, consistent steps for ultimate success!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have completed The Power of Awareness 3 month course taught by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. It is a prerequisite to the intensive 2 year mentor training program in mindfulness, meditation which I began in Feb 2023.
I completed a certificate in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction from the University of Massachusetts Medical school program under Palouse Mindfulness and host a weekly meditation/discussion/inquiry session for International students and graduates of Palouse Mindfulness I also completed the Imagine MBSR course in the Fall of 2022.
I use the BestSelf journal ,being an early adapter, meeting the founders to set big dream goals;breaking them down in achievable parts and accountability steps as I have had to learn to do myself after my brain infection.
I have held weekly sessions privately and as a group. I had a brain infection, had difficulty focusing and organizing and can help others dream big and make concrete steps toward their goals and ultimately succeed, based on my own struggles and learned strategies.
I have attended the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston Texas. I attended art school on a photography scholarship yet painted and drew. Later I was confined to bed when the iPhone came out and learned from the beginning how to use Mobilephotography as fine art photography and later Digital Painting and art. I help beta test and develop art apps as well as work Internationally with the App Whisperer. Also for the last 10 years have trained and had experience helping others, both children, tend adults and seniors find their own creative spirit and learn to draw or paint. I have worked in interactive art projects to bring community together and use creative exercises to help people express their inner artist !
I have taken Artist Working in Community intensive training at Springboard for the Arts in Minnesota. I have received creative Placemaking and visioning training. I have attended Best Self seminars and workshops and held visioning/accountability sessions for many years. I have seen how this system has allowed me to accomplish big goals over time in am organized way.
I am a licensed Veterinarian in the State of Arizona and am currently writing a book about how pets can teach us to accept death as part of life. I consult with people and advise them on animal hospice care and making the best choices for themselves and their pets with serious illnesses or at the end of life.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge approximately $60 /hr for private, individual lessons or $40/ 30 minutes and $60 for Veterinary consultations up to an hour and $2/minute after that.
How did you get started teaching?
I began when my daughter was very young and none of the kids thought they “could” do art even when very young! That upset me that they thought they already “can’t” and I started trying ways to turn that around to delight and “WOW I DID THAT!” for kids, adults, and everyone else!
After that I have taught Animal Care classes, grief group sessions for pets, individual goal setting and life coaching and mindfulness classes integrating my education in many areas.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children and families at a children’s Museum, Teens at the Boys and Girls Club, adults privately or in groups, both experienced artists and beginners. I also taught senior classes.
I work teaching community art classes weekly which are multigenerational and seniors in a memory care unit.
I have begun to work with adults to set goals and facilitate group accountability sessions weekly.
I lead individual meditation and mindfulness sessions as well as continued consultation with people for their pets.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I designed and built giant Spirographs for an art festival and took them to the Southwest Makers Fest. It was amazing and fun. I also have taken them to schools . I also built a more permanent interactive public art installation.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher who is willing to lead you and help you reach your goals but one that is flexible and experiments to see what works for you and how to best communicate with you. While you may think you need to be taught EXACTLY how to do things, actually you want a teacher who will give you the courage and opportunity to find YOUR own style and express what YOU see.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How do classes look to you? Are they rigid or fluid? Do you want homework? What are your end goals and in what time frame do you expect to complete these goals? WHAT DO YOU MOST WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO AFTER THESE CLASSES? What do you MOST want to learn? What does SUCCESS look like?
