Many people do concealed carry classes. This is the class you would take before even deciding if you want to concealed carry. If you're nervous around guns, and want to understand the very basics, this is a good course. We don't shoot anything during the safety course! We just get used to being around the guns.
I enjoy teaching in general, and have a lot of experience with it. I love helping people feel comfortable with guns and the idea of taking responsibility for personal safety.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to define the class first, to make sure it fits what the student needs. I make sure the class takes place in a comfortable atmosphere, and the student feels good asking questions and getting hands-on experience with guns in a calm setting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up with guns, my Dad used to take us hunting rabbits in Utah. I didn't take firearms seriously until 2014 when my wife was expecting our first daughter and we lived in a fairly rough area. I started researching, and I haven't stopped since. I am a strong proponent of responsible, safe gun ownership and usage.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$45 for a safety class, $60 for a range day at an indoor range with the price of the range and ammo included.
How did you get started teaching?
I was concerned that my friends and family were members of historically disenfranchised groups and didn't feel comfortable taking the step to empowering themselves through gun ownership. I reached out on Facebook and got replies of friends that wanted to join a class, and I started teaching. I have taught students as young as 7 years old, and everyone I have taught said they felt comfortable and safe with the experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
All walks of life, 7 years old to 50 years old, even once taught a group of friends from Toronto, Canada who had never been around guns and started with a very negative view - but they were curious and left with a great experience!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The current most rewarding part of my life is being a Dad. My daughters mean the world to me, and they fill me with joy and happiness.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you feel comfortable asking questions, you'll think of a lot of different things during the class and later. Make sure you have their contact info and the ability to ask followup questions later, without having to pay more.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
To me, the most important question to consider is, "How much do I value my life, and the lives of those around me?" Guns are a tool, and in your hands they can be a tool to save lives in a way that no other tool can provide.
