About
I teach many different types of students, in many different venues across the valley, from beginner to professional, individuals to larger workshops. I've been painting, and drawing since I was a child, and have been teaching for more than 15 years. I teach watercolor, acrylic, oil, pen and ink, and graphite. My preference is to take any project from beginning to end in order to cover all techniques appropriate to their chose production. My motto is "finished, not perfection." Art is expression, and rendering in whatever medium is that expression from perception, technique, skill, emotion, purpose, meaning...sometimes all together, and sometimes separate, or in varying measure. Each student has a different goal in what they'd like to obtain for their progress, and that is what I like to pin down and work to achieve, while enjoying the positive attributes of creating. I enjoy creating, and expanding my mind. Every project I take on is one that becomes yet another deposit into my mental bank account, upon which I can withdraw dividends for the rest of my remaining years. Every project that I do, and most especially when I teach a project, I learn from the student(s) every single time, so I work diligently to make sure my offering in each setting is content-rich.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to learn what it is they are wanting to accomplish, and then work towards that end. Every medium is its own universe of possibilities, so I like to begin with the basics, and then build from there...and, of course, have a good time doing so.
