About

My focus (pun intended) is helping others get their cameras out of auto modes, where the camera does all the work and often times produces results short of what you want. You spent a lot of money on your camera, no matter what model it is. I always want people to get the most out of that investment. I'm here to help you, hands-on, to move beyond the edge of your camera comfort zone.

Whether you book one session, or end up doing a series of them, I'll always be here to help, via text, email, or phone. I'm here to support you, after all, and support is the key to success!

In case you want to know a little about me:

I have a certificate in Professional Photography from the New York Institute of Photography. My photography experience includes the following mediums:

* Landscapes/Scenics

* Maternity, Newborn, Weddings, Family, High School Senior, Pets, Events

* Automotive

* Real Estate

* Manufacturing/Products

* Equine

...and much more. I've enjoyed gaining my knowledge in photography, and lighting, which is a critical aspect of composure. I can teach all about composition, focus, subject selection, etc., which are all basic tenets of photography that separate artists from anyone else with a camera.

I have extensive knowledge of DSLRs/SLRs and their lens systems. Most of my experience is with Nikon and Canon, but all DSLRs and SLRs have the same setups, just different menu options on how to adjust them. I do NOT have experience, however, with DSLR video, as that is not something I've ever aspired to.

As far as processing software, I have extensive understanding of Lightroom for processing RAW image sets, as I've used Lightroom since it's inception. I'm currently using Lightroom CC, and use that for my DSLR workflow as well as my smartphone images.

I enjoy coaching others to aspire to be their best, in whatever they do. Photography is no exception. In a world where photos are a dime-a-dozen, and almost everyone uses Instagram, I still believe there's room for growth as an image artist. I aspire to help those who have a desire to learn their hardware and/or principles in photography as a craft.

Frequently asked questions

The first session is usually 2 hours, wherein I cover the basics. If the lessons are centered around learning the camera, I focus on one manual mode. At the end of the first session I'll give some insights on exercises the student can go through to get better at the mode we learned together. We'll also either discuss scheduling a second lesson, or leave it open-ended for whenever you're ready.
