I have been a teacher for many years, I was an adjunct professor for South Mountain Community College in Phoenix for a while, plus a few other places.
What has made me successful as a teacher is I never assume anything, meaning, you will never hear me gloss over something quickly and without explaining it proper because "you should know this already," or "this is so obvious, it goes without saying.." I always explain things to students so they can see the reason why something works or does not.
Educating has instructors and it has teachers, I am a teacher.
I have always been a creative type, very passionate about photography and I have been lucky to have paired my extensive teaching experience in other fields to help my students attain a higher understanding of the basics in photography, as well as more advanced topics.
I am a huge believer that a willing student paired with a good teacher can beautiful art, and expressions because it is through proper teaching we all can learn how to express ourselves better.

I will ask them what it is they feel they would like to learn, what they have done so far to try to learn it, and why they may feel they have not been successful at it yet.
I then tell them how I think we would accomplish the goal within my teaching style and exercises to solidify the learning, and I ask them how they feel about it.
I have been a professional photographer for over 6 years, during that time, I have worked with many clients who have always been happy with their results.
