Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Evaluation, current strengths and interest. Start with proper mechanics, introduction to theory, timing and structure
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20+ years experience in general music. Started in school band on snare drum at age 12. Taught my self to play guitar with help from countless other players until I was 21. I learned my first entire song..I Am The Walrus from the Beatles. There were so many chord changes in it that I had to sing the words to remember them. I painstakingly tried to teach myself vocals for the next 5 years. Frustrated, I took 4 or 5 singing lessons and learned how to breathe properly. Attended Los Angeles Recording Workshop for studio engineering in 2002. Worked as a sound person for a few years. Started a few bands. Joined a few. Started teaching guitar at Prescott Music Center in 2006. Began teaching privately soon after. Amazing Mobile Music Instruction was established in 2009 when I moved down to Mesa, AZ. I have been thinking about, learning and writing music for many years. I am now 43 years old and use a great deal of my collected knowledge to help people learn music properly for themselves. I have developed various methods for specifically instructioning the individual.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $160/4 week cycles. Depending on the distance from 7th St and 101 in Phoenix. The lessons are 45 minutes long. Though, I go an hour. This gives the client 15 extra minutes per week. This time goes to misses the client may have.
