About

My many students are accomplished and their parents are enthusiastic about my teaching. Parents appreciate my gentle thoroughness. I have been teaching piano and cello for years and also am teaching violin and viola in one of our local studios. My background is unique in that I studied these instruments to a level that I allows me to perform and teach with ease and compentency.

I began piano lessons at 5 with Nellie Tholen in Portland, OR. A few years later I began studying the cello and eventually was a member of the Oregon Symphony. All the while I kept up with my piano skills. My first degree is from Univ. of Minnesota in Music Education. My masters studies were done in Ontario Canada. I've a long professional bio.

Giving music lessons allows me to enjoy other people on a personal level at the same time watch them surpass their own performance expectations. When accompanying my students on the piano, or playing duets with them both the students and I realize how much fun we're having, at the same time making music come alive.

When my daughter was in 5th grade and we were given a violin, she began private lessons and that gave the impetus to enroll in teacher's college.  Since I've  always owned and played piano, that instrument has formed the bedrock of all my other musical activities including teaching.

Ages 5 thru 70 and beyond.  All levels of capability from challenged through talented.
