I like that these lessons help me improve at the speed I like to go. Dana helped me improve my audition music tremendously in a very small amount of time.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For new students, I usually begin with a trial lesson or consultation to understand your playing level, goals, and musical background.
Then, I design a personalized lesson plan — whether you’re preparing for an audition, refining your technique, or expanding your repertoire.
Each lesson includes technical focus, musical expression, and performance guidance.
I also help students set short- and long-term goals so you can see clear progress and enjoy your musical journey.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold two master’s degrees in violin and viola performance from the United States, where I studied with renowned professors and performed across the country.
I currently perform with the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra, one of China’s most internationally recognized orchestras.
With over 10 years of professional experience in both performance and teaching, I bring an international perspective and deep understanding of music education to every lesson.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer monthly lesson plans.
Schedules are confirmed at the end of each month, and tuition is due by the 5th of the following month.
If you have remaining lesson credits, they can be carried over to the next month.
Lessons can be rescheduled with advance notice, but same-day or within 24-hour changes are not accepted.
There are no extra fees or hidden charges.
How did you get started teaching?
My teaching journey began while I was studying and performing in the United States. Many younger students and peers asked for my help with their auditions, and I found great joy in guiding them to success.
Over time, teaching became just as fulfilling to me as performing. Now, I continue to share that same passion with students around the world through online lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with intermediate and advanced students, helping them prepare for ABRSM exams, All-State auditions, conservatory entrance, and orchestra positions.
Some of my students have gone on to music schools and professional ensembles.
I’ve also performed in international productions, including collaborations with Jian Wang, Lang Lang, Michael Bublé.
Currently, I focus exclusively on online lessons for serious violin and viola students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I helped several violin and viola students prepare for their All-State auditions. Over about three months, we focused on technique, sight-reading, and musical interpretation. I’m proud to say that all of them were accepted! Their success reminded me how consistent practice and encouragement truly make a difference.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who not only plays well but also understands how to communicate clearly and make learning enjoyable.
A great teacher should inspire you to grow, build your confidence, and help you find joy in every note.
Music lessons are an investment — not just in skill, but in your lifelong love of music.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before starting lessons, it’s helpful to think about:
• What are your musical goals (auditions, exams, or personal growth)?
• How much time can you commit to practicing each week?
• Do you prefer a structured plan or a more flexible learning pace?
• What style of teaching helps you stay motivated and inspired?
Knowing these things helps me tailor lessons that fit your personality, schedule, and dreams.
