Coach Derek Hersha was born in Tucson, AZ and he is an I'm Possible Certified Skill Enhancement Trainer and an Official USA Basketball Youth Development Licensed Coach. He played basketball for Salpointe Catholic High School, Pima Community College, and Grand Canyon University. Coach Derek received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Grand Canyon University and an MBA from the University of Arizona. He has coached, trained, and mentored both boys and girls basketball student athletes, kindergarten through high school, since 2006, and he is now training collegiate & professional basketball players. In January of 2021, Derek founded Apex Athletix which now operates under 2 separate organizations: Apex Athletix LLC, which is responsible for all basketball related programming and services and Apex Athletix Foundation Inc (Non-Profit, 501(c)(3), charitable organization).

APEX has been a wonderful addition to my sons basketball career.
