About
Hello my name is Ken. I am the owner/operator of Combative Edge Krav Maga self defense and fitness. Besides self defense I am also a firearms instructor with over 20 years experience. I am passionate in what I do, wether it is basic safety ( beginners) or advanced weapons handling and tactics my goal is to provide those in need with the skills and practice required. My training consists of dry fire and manipulation, indoor simulation and live fire training.
I love to help someone improve their skills, help them become more comfortable and confident in their ability to handle and use a firearm.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students I like to establish a little bit of insight from them as to the motivation for their seeking training. This helps me determine what there goals are and how far they want to go in a particular discipline such as shooting, or self defense.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started out by joining the Marines right out of high school, went straight into the infantry and spent my military career their. After the Marines I joined law enforcement became a FI after my first year. I spent the next 20 yrs. Teaching line staff and tactical staff firearms and tactics. Later became a certified gun Smith and armorer for my department. Certified to teach pistol, rifle shotgun and precision rifle.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Unfortunately this is a very competitive discipline and a costly one. As supply goes up so must the rates for training. Single person can receive 4 one hour lessons for $150.00 add another person for only $25
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as I encountered several negative instructors in the field of firearms training. I wanted to creat a comfortable environment as well as a can do for people who may be apprehensive and a challenging one for the seasoned shooter.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all walks of people, from young to old and everyone in between. Also have taught people that have been traumatized, experiences with dramatic events and people with physical disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
What makes me happy is to work with someone who is intimidated or frightened and empower them with confidence and courage.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
No matter the status or experience of the instructor, the instructor should always remain a student and willing to learn. A "no it all" never makes a good instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The main question should be, WHY? What is your motivation for this kind of training.
How willing are you too learn. How much effort are you willing to give to the discipline.
You are responsible for your training or lack there of. Idiocy is not an excuse in the legal world.
