About

Our team at Ball2Thrive strives to be inquisitive pioneers. We work to constantly ask questions and push the envelope to help our athletes strategically grow on and off the court. Our mentors and Coaches will focus on maximizing our athletes' full potential. B2T is dedicated to developing long-term relationships with our athletes through quality training and support to help our players elevate the game of basketball in the future.

We specialize in providing the convenience of flexibility and increasing your athlete's learning curve. Time with our coaches privately allows your athlete to identify mistakes in more detail, allows for minimal distractions, and builds a rapport with that coach and player for a healthy coachability mindset athletes can carry to their teams and other basketball programs.

Ball2Thrive Basketball Coaches can come to you upon availability, and we also have select gym locations that we access to avoid weather factors and public distraction.

Frequently asked questions

Ideally, we would like to get to know the potential client through a small series of assessment questions:

1) Discuss the athlete's history and experience playing and supporting basketball participation.

2) Get to know what the athlete's goals are for fitness, skill-building, and competition.

3) Availability for sessions, location preferences, and the desired frequency of sessions per week.

4) Discuss pricing options and come to a payment agreement and proceed with the service.

Our coaches have more than 15 years of experience playing, coaching, and teaching the fundamental basics of the sport of basketball, individually and within team settings.

Our sessions start at a base rate of $50 per session for a single athlete training. Our pricing ranges depending on the number of athletes involved in one session, the location within or away from Oakland, CA, and the frequency of sessions per week. For more details, please message us!

We at Ball2Thrive got started in the basketball teaching business during the time we were graduate students at the University of San Francisco's Sport Management program. We have a strong passion for teaching the youth overall and love the sport of basketball ourselves. Our work derives from the gratification in assisting young athlete's growth on and off the court.

We have a wide range of athletes that we have and continue to work with on a weekly basis. The age of clients has ranged from as young as 8 years old and as old as their mid-twenties. The more frequent ages we encounter are early middle school to young high school-age athletes.

There are many different styles of teaching and learning the game of basketball. Be open to new teaching styles and experiences when looking to find the right fit for the athlete's development physically and mentally. The advice we love to give athletes who are seeking basketball classes and training is to be open to more than just one area of their game. It is important to understand yourself as a player holistically, and not just as a skill-building "machine'. There are mental toughness aspects that come into play during training and it may not always seem fun and exhilarating work. Be open to the grind and challenging yourself every day with or without a trainer/ basketball teacher.

1) What kind of player do you see yourself as right now, and what do you want to become in the future?

2) Honestly answer to yourself: Are you self-sufficient?  Are you able to work out on your own when prompted? What are your strengths and weaknesses in basketball fundamentals, competition, and mental toughness?

3) Be open to communicating what you need even if you are not sure.

4) Be humble and open to growth and being coachable. Athletes gain the most from their basketball teachers when they are good listeners, approach challenges in healthy ways, and are resilient.

5) Find out why you love the sport, and express that in your efforts to get stronger and better.
