Ryan Soule Photography
About
I have been running my own photography business for the past 5 years. Prior to that I worked at a photo agency in San Francisco for 4 years. I believe that this real world experience is what constantly humbles me as a photographer and gives me the drive to teach photography. While I had already been familair with photography due to both my parents being photographers, I was thrown into the fire on many real world situations where I had no idea how to work a monsters DSLR or how to properly photograph a subject or event. I would love to be able to pass on this knowledge to anyone interested in photography. Whether you are starting a photography job, have an interest in a certain area of photography or you simply just want to learn your way around a camera..I can get you there! I am very friendly and I work well with all kinds of personality types. Another side benefit of being a photographer!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will talk to the student to find out what his/her goal is in Photography and craft a specific lesson for that student. Since I’m a hands on learner myself, I would have all of my own professional equipment to use so the student can get hands on an actual camera.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started working at Orange Photography in San Francisco in 2011 where I became one of their staff photographers. In 2015, I started my own Photography business and have been running that ever since.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the goal of the student, either an hourly or session rate will be applied.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught many short photography training sessions during my time at Orange Photography. I have never done this type of teaching but would love to branch out and share my passion.
What types of students have you worked with?
All young adults looking to become associate photographers with the agency.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you can talk to them like they are a friend. I also feel that people are more open to learning when they feel absolutely comfortable with their teacher. Every teacher I have had in Photography has been a friend and I want to always have that kind of teacher/student relationship with my students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your end goal with photography? (Hobby, job)
What type of Photography are you interested in learning?
How much training have you already had?
