About

For many years, I have taught art to all ages, from preschool to senior citizens! I love to see when my students have that aha feeling that they created something special or meaningful to them. It gives me great joy!

I tell all of my students to make all the mistakes they can so I know what to teach them! I can see what they don't know and I can coach them accordingly! We have fun but the the work gets done! I create lectures on color theory and composition and design elements so they learn all about painting and other painters. I also teach the artistry of photography and an a qualified judge. I have done many critiques and have always had great responses from all the students I have mentored and taught. I write books on it snd have done successful workshops using design elements, composition and color theory .

I like seeing my students become creative and able to critique their work and others. Plus it takes courage to jump in and do something different while developing your style! When I can help someone develop their confidence, that is a wonderful reward for me! I started painting at age six and have worked in mAny different mediums in art, including photography. I teach on Zoom now on Fridays presenting lectures to inspire my students! My degree is in education but I studied art all of my life and attended classes through the Cleveland Institute of Art throughout high school then attended Parsons school of Drsign and the Fashion Institute of Design in New York City! I still attend workshops and demos, pus paint em plein sir whenever I can. I have had many exhibits if my work and love to teach!

I have taken several, multiple week, art classes from Penni Rubin.
Penni gave us a power point presentation each week about the principles &
history of art before we started to create our own masterpieces. We worked on animals/pets, still lifes, landscapes & portraits. Penni illustrated shape, form, dimension, texture, content, color, tone & mixing colors to name a few things. She taught us to “tell a story” with each project we worked on. Each week she brought 75-100 props for us to use to create our work, as well as live models when needed.
We were taught there are no “mistakes”, you just learn & work through them.
Each student was worked with as she evaluated & encouraged their growth
    & work.
Her interest & zeal for art are contagious & she makes her classes Fun.
I would definitely take classes from Penni again & highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning about art & having the satisfaction of watching
their empty canvas come to life.
