I would say that Im an intermediately skilled photographer. I took a seminar at Solzberg Studio on the topic of studio lighting, I learned about different types of lighting and how to look at light in a different way. David showed us how to create different types of lighting using light shaping tools and using them in different ways.
David had a calm demeanor and a sense of humor that kept the us interested and entertained at the same time. He challenged us throughout the seminar with questions that caused us to think about the lessons being taught or how weve seen light in past situations.
The lessons I learned will definitely make me a better photographer.
I look forward to another photographic seminar at Solzberg Studios.

    Frequently asked questions

Find out what they know, and where they want to be. By explaining the process and using a camera, I will explain the technical aspects of how the camera works. You will be given homework to learn the different ways the aperture and shutter speed adjust your images.
I have 2 degrees in photography. An AA degree in photographic technology from the State University of NY, and a bachelor's degree from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara.
    $25 per hour, laughter included.
I started teaching in college, working part-time in a local camera store. People asked how to get better, and I would go to their home or coffee shop and explain why their photos worked or didn't work. One time, a woman told me her husband had booked an African photo safari for them. She asked for help, so we went to work. She impressed her husband with the images she came back with. Made me proud!
All ages, genders, and ethnicities. The student must want to learn and get better; I can't supply motivation.
Look for someone whom you are comfortable with and respect. When I used to sell cameras, I told customers to find the camera that fits best in their hands. You need to shoot a lot, so it's better to be comfortable using it.
What are your goals, and what are you going to be shooting? Is it for travel, grandchildren, sports, or something else? I will cater to your needs in the lessons.
