Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out the application for the work that they're interested in doing, and help them to create the best workflow and tools for exactly what they're looking to do.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Digital Video Production. In this time, I have studied a lot of digital design, photography, video, and motion graphics. And then I have worked full time in marketing as a photographer and video producer for the past 8 years. For one year I have been on my own, creating my company, Meria.Agency
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $100 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I enjoy helping others. I enjoy knowing my technology thoroughly, and so when I was working in an office environment, a lot of people started to ask me for help instead of the IT department. I was easier to get in touch with, more helpful, and most importantly, always happy to help :)
What types of students have you worked with?
All. University students, colleagues, friends, family, and people who I run into at cafes.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check out their work portfolio and see if it inspires you. If their work inspires you, then they might be a good teacher to work with, and potentially a good person to have in your network.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If they're already here, looking for an instructor, then this is enough. Anything else is something that I'd be happy to help figure out with you.
