Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For a new student, the first session is more of an introduction and an evaluation. Since I have not seen the new student play before, I let them take some swings, throw, etc. so I can evaluate their skill level and figure out any deficiencies they may have so we can address them together. I like to ask what the student feels as they do different drills because they need to be able to FEEL if it was good or bad so they can eventually make the proper adjustments on their own.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I experienced success as a player in high school receiving 1st Team All-League and All-CIF Honors as a Sophomore, Junior and Senior. After being recruited by various NCAA Division 1 programs, I ultimately chose to play at Cal State Fullerton and then Vanguard University. I never did make it to the pros but while playing days would eventually end, my dedication to the sport never would. Transitioning from a player to a coach was a natural next step, and it has allowed me to take everything I've learned about the game and use it guide the next generation.
