About
I am the original founder of the National Basketball Shooters Association. You will find more information about me at our basketball shooting web site, www.nbsashooters.com.
I am a well know free throw master and professional basketball shooting coach. I was a professional athlete in my youth. I played baseball and volleyball in high school and college, open tennis after high school and later, starting at age 29, pro racquetball. I became a free throw master, shooting 98%, in my early 50's, which took me 16 months to accomplish working with Dr. Tom Amberry who was the Guinness consecutive free throw record holder at that time. His record was 2,750 ending on a make. I have 500 free throws in a row three times ending on a make. I am now 70 years old, May 30, 1947.
I was originally mentored in basketball by a famous L.A. basketball shooting coach and basketball trainer named Kenny Kroft. Ken was an asistant of John Wooden's and is well known as being Don McLean's coach, UCLA (scoring record) and he played on different 8 teams in the NBA. I still work with Kenny occasionally with some of my students. I also work occasionally with Reggie Harmon Jr. who teaches advanced basketball ball handling. Later I have been mentored by basketball shooting Guinness Record holders and free throw masters, Fred Newman, who was also a very close friends and practice partner. Google for more information on Dr. Tom Amberry and Fred Newman.
I primarily teach shooting fundamentals along the mid line, up close to the basket and moving back to the free throw line, where we develop your ability to make every shot, which is called free throw mastery.
I work with several other professional basketball trainers who teach the game of basketball at the highest level. We use Noah Basketball technology, www.noahbasketball.com during many of our practice shooting sessions.
Trying to be perfect at the free throw is my passion. The mental and physical skills required to do that can be acquired. They are the very same habits required for excellence in any activity, be it sports, an education or a profession. I use free throw mastery as the platform for teaching focus, concentration and self discipline. It gives me great pleasure helping others reach difficult goals. I get to share in the successes, triumps and process often times making a good friend for life.
