I have been a calligrapher, cartoonist and digital artist for over 30 years. I enjoy working with all ages and levels of artistic experience. I'm here to help guide and encourage the creative process. I want my students to discover their creativity and shape their own unique style.
I enjoy several aspects about the work I do but I especially like teaching elementary age students and helping older students build their portfolios for entrance into art programs at University or employment opportunities. See details below.
CALLIGRAPHY ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
I enjoy teaching calligraphy to elementary school children who are studying colonial America and I have taught over 60 children to write the alphabet and the Declaration of Independence preamble in Chancery Italic. In doing so, I begin the class with a lesson I designed that presents the history of calligraphy and the Roman alphabet dating back to the ancient Greeks. It is prepared for 4th-6th grade level but can be adapted to any age.
