About this pro

Hello! I am an actress and a ballroom dancer! Performance is in my soul! It is an integral part of who I am.  The ability to positively affect someone's life through the arts is what I live for. Whether that impact be through teaching or a performance, it is a gift I do not take lightly, and as a result, I hold it in the highest regard.

I have a BFA in Performance (Media and Theatre), as well as my certification in ballroom dance.  I am DVIDA certified, recognized by the National Dance Council of America, which I am also a member of. I have been performing since the age of three, I teach over twenty styles of partnership dance, and have studied under some of the best coaches in the United States.

Embracing who we are is a necessity to each person's life.  Art offers such a perfect foundation to explore just that on such a raw, human level. Seeing someone discover more of who they are is a priceless gift. It can be scary, and it requires courage, discipline, and vulnerability, but the reward is so worth the journey!

I'm 76 yrs old and I've been taking dance lessons with Adrienne for several years now, it's been a great experience and a lot of fun!! We dance Country/Western, ECS, WCS, NC2Step, and some of the Ball Room Dances, she's teaches in a way that makes learning these dances easy. Well not easy, but doable!! I've lost some balance and agility with age, but Adrienne has done a marvelous job working around my problems and making dancing an enjoyable hobby for me.

Adrienne is awesome! I took Yoga classes with her and not only is she an amazing teacher, she really takes that one on one time to help you reach your highest potential!! I love how she explains what we are doing and why. This yoga class is not only educational but I truly get a workout in! It will make you sweat while you are having fun!

Adrienne made dancing with my husband such a fun experience. She was so easy to follow and very professional. She was very knowledgeable but made the concepts easy for us to grasp. I would highly recommend her to anyone at any level.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I start at the beginning with everyone.  I offer a 'test drive' lesson in order to assess where someone is at, any previous training he/she has had, experience, etc.  This also allows the student to meet with me, making sure they feel comfortable. An artistic relationship is such a special thing and requires trust.  I want to make sure my students feel relaxed with me first and foremost.  I listen to what the needs and goals are of my clients.  There is no 'cookie cutter' approach in my method. My lessons are designed 100% around my clients.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started teaching?

I have been acting my entire life and always knew the performing arts were what I wanted to pursue.  After graduating wtih my performance degree, I sought anything and everything artistic.  There was an excellent ballroom studio in my city that helped train me not only as a dancer, but a teacher as well.  I haven't looked back since!

What types of students have you worked with?

Young, old, and everyone in betwen!  Literally.  I have also worked with hearing impaired, autistic, and physically disabled students.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

One of my students had his first dance performance back in the spring and he absolutely killed it!  His daughter came and watched him and was in tears to have seen her dad up on stage, not only dancing, but dancing well!  That moment, as well as the pride my student felt was priceless.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

You have to make sure you vibe with the person. As I said above, artistic relationships require a lot of vulnerablity and trust, make sure you pick someone who you feel comfortable with, and obviously you feel has the training to get you where you want to go.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

How much time are you willing to invest? Are you willing to do work on your own outside of your lessons? Are you preparing for a specific event? If so, what do you envision the end result looking like? How often can you commit to lessons?
