Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student by asking about their hobbies and if they've had any past musical experiences. I'll also typically ask them (or their parent) about their goals and what kinds of songs/techniques/skills they want to learn, as well as their biggest musical influences!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
23 years guitar experience // Season 8 contestant on The Voice // B.A. degree in Popular Music Studies at William Paterson University ‘15 // Songwriting and production credits (Mariah Carey, French Montana, Lexi Jayde, etc.) Here is my Songwriting and Production Reel on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3FaEHY3J2GSBU5kByxTIYU?si=b7ccf5dedca54464

How did you get started teaching?
I have a lot of teachers in my family. I love it and have been doing it on and off for about 10 years, between touring, songwriting, and producing music for artists.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students have ranged from 7 to 38 years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone that makes music fun. Someone with an easygoing personality that is patient. You can learn music theory and different styles of music, but there should always be time to have fun with it. Practicing is important for improvement, but it should never feel like a chore. My teacher made sure of that when he taught me and I make an effort to do the same.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of music do you want to learn to play? Do you want to learn to read music? Do you plan on performing in front of people?
