About
Small group classes in my home art studio covering classical and contemporary painting techniques, in acrylic or oils, from the very beginning moving forward. Compositional approaches, priming, Alla prima brush work, Glazing, color mixing, and edges among other things!. You will spend approximately 3-4 classes on each painting as I help each person to move forward with their challenges individually as well as some collective activities like color charts and mixing tips etc. We will work from life with classical still-lives set up with directional lighting. All materials, paint, easels and brushes will be provided. School age students Mondays 4:15-5;30pm $150 pm including all materials, Adults Tuesday morning 10:30-12;30 $150 including materials or $120 if you bring your own.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I set up a new canvas and explain how one sets about setting up a good composition and what the initial stages of painting are. I guide them through the steps of prining and blocking in the main values and then we work towards rendering light and dark and the correct colors on the canvas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have previously owned and taught full time in my own commercial art studio called Artjamming in Almaden valley. prior to that I taught aftre school art classes through the Los Gatos recreation department. I now have the luxury of tecahing from my own home studio. It is large enought to accomdate 8-10 students but I prefer classes of 6 or under.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$150pm including all materials, drawing supplies, canvasses , paint in acrylic or oils, brushes, mediums, palette knives and so on. $120pm if you have your own supplies.
The rate is the same for adults or scholars as the process is the same.
How did you get started teaching?
I have taught for many years now, since my children were much younger. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and skills and enjoy helping students young and old find their way creatively.
