The Artists Way
About
Hello my name is John Klaiber and I Love Art!
As an Art teacher my main goal is to teach students to believe in them selves and there creative potentials and most importantly have fun!
My philosophy is that if you enjoy what you are doing you will always be happy to do it! Creativity is an excellent quality that many of us have, my job as an Art teacher is to help that creative spirit to grow.
In these times especially the gift of art and creativity is such a blessing to all who experience it.
Artists of all ages and abilities in my view have there own unique talents gifts and abilities. It is this excellence that I as an Artist and Teacher hope to encourage and help grow in all my students.
Honestly being a teacher is so much different than just being an artist.
when I am teaching there is no pressure or expectations other than that we just have fun and are creative.
From this all things flow.
As an Artist I enjoy working in Ceramics, sculpture, painting, digital, murals, large scale, small scale, poetry, music, film, creative writing and more!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Thank you for viewing my page!
I have found Art work and Music creation to be one of the greatest loves of my life! As an Art Teacher this too is what I hope to help you develop!
I am also happy to announce that I have just been accepted to Sac States MFA (Master of Fine Arts) program so if you work with me you are basically getting future college teacher instruction!!!
And we will have fun!!!
When beginning lessons I like to find out what people are interested in developing or learning. From here I craft my ideas for the lessons. I like to give the students a bit of a heads up about materials and what to expect with our time. I charge $40 per hour for instruction plus prep time. (3/4 hour prep time for 2D 1.5 hour prep for 3D we can discuss this!) Once we have established a direction for our work I like getting right in and making work!
After that we can develop further lessons and directions based on students interest and abilities!
Thank y'all for checking out my page and I hope you find the Super Excellence here that you are looking for!!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Story.
I began creating at a very young age but it was really in high school that I began to take off with it.
Then I made Art and lived life and ran a small business for 15 years.
Then returned to school to become an Artist and an Art teacher and I graduated as a returning student with a studio art degree from Sacramento State in the spring of 2020.
I have been teaching Art to Special Education and Horizon students since the spring of 2018 with Yolo Arts. This is a county run program where I go to different schools and teach Art in class to students ranging from kindergarten to adult. I love this job!
I also applied for the MFA (Masters of Fine Art) from Sacramento State recently and if I am accepted I will be in the first class of students to graduate with that degree at Sacramento State.
I believe that art is a way of life. It is a passion it is a skill and it is also a love!
My greatest goal with any of my students is to help them find themselves and there own unique talents, passions and skills.
Living the life of an artist can be an amazing and fulfilling experience! It is one of my greatest joys to help others to discover and share these unique and awesome gifts of wich this life so freely gives to us!
Thank you for your consideration and have a Great Day!

It's definitely the look on some of my students faces when they super pumped on what they are doing.
My work is honestly super rewarding!!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who you like!
There are different types of teachers, some are more rule oriented, some are more free form... Each type of teacher has as different lesson to teach.
In my view it's best to work with people who you can flow with. Be like the river!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There is an old saying.
When the student is ready
The teacher will appear.
