About

I am considered an encouraging supportive technician. My skill in knowing what's wrong seems to stand out.

If you don't care about drawing correctly, it's a different story.

Basic knowledge of perspective is imperative.

I am truly a social person, enjoy my process, can not wait to meet new students. My passion lies in seeing others make art they like. I hope to find your strengths and cultivate confidence in what you are doing well. If you are lost I help you discover your gift.

I consider myself a coach, who practices along side the student. My demonstrations are better in person, but zoom really gets us connected in a safe and consistent way.

I am a very novice artist. I was interested in drawing. Juliet and I have been working through Zoom for several months. Juliet was terrific in taking me from what I wanted to draw. We have worked on drawing one perspective and two perspective drawings, drawing things from nature, and the human body from multiple perspectives. I feel that I learn something every lesson and have grown as an artist.

Juliet is an incredible teacher! She is so down to earth, really knows how to focus on what needs to be improved on, and just overall was able to provide the guidance that I needed. I really appreciated all of her lessons and critiques, I feel like I grew as an artist with her. Shes a very talented artist, and I feel like just being around someone who has been a professional artist for so long is such an awesome experience, because artists just see the world so much differently than anyone else! Plus she has a command over many different mediums. Had I been able to do art as a career, I would have continued working with Juliet. Shes overall an amazing person, a fabulous artist, and a wonderful teacher. Her kind soul and ability to give me the exact teaching that I needed at the time were always appreciated. Im happy I was able to be one of her students, even if it was somewhat brief! Thank you, Juliet! I truly am grateful for the time we spent together. Her teaching style can meet anyones needs and you can grow as an artist with her too!

Juliet’s art was a draw for me to participate in a retreat at Cafe Muse, a wonderful, magical oasis of creativity inside a local gym, where her many paintings resided. Fueled by her lovingly prepared food and drink, comforted by her gentle yet efficient, clear demonstration of techniques, I created my first book and painting in over 30 years. Juliet’s conscious, nonjudgmental presence allows participants to tap into what artistic manifestation wants to be birthed, to their delight.

    Frequently asked questions

We begin with a simple charcoal still life. From there I can see where the student needs support. I offered India ink and acrylic paint in the first week of the six week series.  We look at the structure of the human head, the proportions of the human body and animal bodies. Ultimately we look at perspective if it's relevant for this student to understand. When we paint there has been a foundation laid. Expression is more of a flow of color and structure, once the student has practiced it gets easier!

Bachelor of Fine Arts for MassArt, emphasis in painting and printmaking.

Studied abroad in Dublin at The National College of Art and Design.

I have trained my team of mural artists to do public art and in private homes.

I continue to update my skills by drawing daily and keeping my practice relevant to the needs of the public. I have had a great time meeting new students, who stay with me for years. I study art history and contemporary art movements and don't necessarily promote my own work. I paint with my students!

I taught adult classes at Louisiana State University. It started with decorative finishes, and my students wanted to travel with me. I began training my students privately to prepare them for art retreats in Italy and Ireland.

I was invited to teach in a high school as the art instructor and enjoyed learning how to show structure , create rubrics and have assessments and critiques regularly. Now I coach mature artists.

Preschool teaching was my first afterschool job.

I host this as a community outreach event.

The College of Alameda and their Health Services Department co-host this on-going event. I bring musicians and artists and healers together to make art together.

First find out if you like their work.

When I studied in art school I wanted to work with the artists whose work was a direction I wanted to go.

We often don't know what kind of work you want to make then you need to just sample some varied styles that different artists help you create.

A teacher with a range of styles will be your best choice.

What period of art moves you?

Do you like detail or do you like expressive art?

Are you cautious and careful, due to lack of confidence? Do you need structure to get the methods?

Are you creative , but need help to get skills in drawing and color?
