Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First lessons are usually meant to test the waters to see how the student is struggling with their math subject. Then from there I would tailor my lessons to be personalized to best suit their learning curve. I personally prefer teaching students concepts first than certain problem types. However, I do make exceptions in where we are crunched for time to help student's pass their exams and then return back to material afterwards.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutor both high school and college level math for the last 4 years. I have my AS degree in Mathematics from Norco Community College and now pursusing higher level education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is $17.50/hour. Pricing might depending on schedule demand and driving distance.
*Per Session pricing can be requested after 2~3 lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a joke in high school then it became a part time job to fill in the hours of the day and pay off daily expenses.
What types of students have you worked with?
*I have worked with students who were basically about to fail their highschool algebra class and pull them up to C in their final grade in 1 months time.
*I have worked with students who know what their doing 90% of time and just need someone to reassure that they're doing the problems correct.
*I have worked with students who just wanted to get ahead of their classmates or who just have parents who wanted them to succeed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you simply here to find someone to do your homework? Then the cheaper option would probably be with Chegg.
If not and you truly want to learn then by all means, I will be willing to listen to your needs and struggles.
