My name is Angi Ma. I was born in Santa
Monica and have lived in California most of my
life. I spent many years in teaching music and humanities. My greatest joy comes
from teaching humanities .English 9-12, AP/ Honors Social Science,World/US History,Ethnic & Social Justice Ethnic identities/studies, AP US/Euro
History

I enjoy working with students all ages/
learning skill levels. I have about 30 yrs of experience teaching students with severe learning disabilities. I have helped many
foreign exchange students from Japan,
China, the Middle East, Brazil, Spain, and Mexico.
My most rewarding accomplishment was
with a mentally disabled student from India. She had failed English 101 three times.
Because she was on academic probation, this was her last chance to pass English 101 without being disqualified. She had lost all hope and wanted to drop out of college.
I encouraged her and helped her work
on her self esteem and study skills. As a result,
she graduated from Santa Monica College. Some of her classes included English 101 ,American History, and music .
Her father told me that I was the only teacher or tutor with any success. I really cared about my student. I feel that her success was due in large part to my patient tutoring.
