Even before my first class, I will reach out to the student in order to get a general idea about their experience, goals and preferred styles. On top of that, I will create a specific program for that student focusing on their goals and the music they like to play. I use practical examples from the songs my students like to teach sophisticated music theory. I have been studying music, in all shapes and forms, since I was 11 years old, when I had classes in a music school in Brazil until I was 18. Since them, I kept up with my playing and exploring new genres and styles. Most recently, I have been keen to improve my jazz/improvisation skills.
The thing I enjoy the most in my work is to see my student's satisfaction when they are able to actually play a whole song with no interruptions for the first time, you can tell by their faces how proud they get with themselves. It is very enjoyable to watch!
