I like to tailor my flute lessons to the individual to meet their goals, whether it's learn a new instrument, help them keep up in band or orchestra, win competitions or auditions, and anything in between. I teach students of all ages and experience, and strive to make learning music fun and educational. I hold three degrees from major music institutions where I studied with renowned pedagogues, and pass this valued information on to my students.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet with the student and evaluate what their goals are for what they want to get out of their lessons. If they have experience playing, I like to get a sense of their level and let them know what I would work on going forward, and then we would set up a routine for the first few lessons of the things we would do - warm ups, etudes, pieces, etc. I encourage all students to ask questions and give feedback for what will work best for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three degrees in music performance, including a BM in flute performance from the University of California, MM in flute performance from the University of Texas, and a performance diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have worked as a freelancer and teacher for many years in LA, Austin, and now the Bay Area, and have an extensive background in orchestra through school, festivals, and local symphony work.

I charge $75 an hour and $40 for half an hour. I do work with a sliding scale however, so if a student has a concern about being able to afford lessons I am more than willing to adjust and find a price that will be comfortable for them.
