About
Kate is an artist, an art educator, and a healing arts facilitator, which gives her a uniquely sensitive teaching style. Yes, you learn how to paint, draw, sculpt, AND you are inspired to develop your own creative voice. Her philosophy is that we are all artists and we live a full, rich life when we create our heart's desire.
I enjoy sharing my passion for art at whatever level and with whichever goals a student may have.
I have taught high school art, recreational art, summer art programs, community college art, trade trainings, and adult school art programs. Every student has a special artistic journey and I enjoy traveling part of the way with each one!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Primarily, I like to be clear about the new students' goal before I establish a lesson plan.
The student answers a short questionaire and I may ask for clarification too. Then I develop classes to suit each student's individual request.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two art degrees: Diploma in Sculpture from the London Guild Art School, and an MFA from California College of Art, Oaland, California. I have a Califonrinia State Teachers Credential in Art (and English).
I taught art in two high schools in LA and one in San Diego county for 18 years. I have taught in adult school, recreation centers, community college and a trade training polytechnic in London. I also offer healing art constellations which combine art with a therapeutic healing proces.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My basic rate is $32 an hour.
Groups of five or more $25 a class (60 - 90minutes).
I offer a sliding scale where need and enthusiasm are great.
