About
My artistic journey is fueled by a deep appreciation for my surroundings, where I translate the ordinary into extraordinary through a lens of color and shape. I can work with a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor, and graphite, allowing us to explore the richness of texture and depth in paintings. As a self-taught artist and teacher, I explore these various mediums and themes, with a particular passion for drawing and painting, sometimes using mixed media to create unique effects.
Movement and presence are central themes in art. Whether depicting the stride of a race horse, the dynamic flow of a boat on water, the intricate details of a dish of tomatoes, or the vibrant hues of a bouquet, I aim to evoke emotion and connection through use of shapes and colors.
My work is heavily influenced by the impressionist and fauvist movements of the early 1900s. I teach to embrace vivid colors to present a distinctive perspective of subjects. While the excitement of a blank canvas fuels our creativity, we can together face the intense challenge of balancing composition, value, and texture.
Art and teaching are not just my passion; it is my purpose. My motto, “Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee,” embodies my approach to creativity—embracing both grace and strength in our work. I love what I do and strive to share that joy with others through my art and teaching.
