My name is Ariel Randolph, I'm a socal artist who vends her own little side business as Artisanyumi at artwalks in Perris and Riverside. My day job is as an Art to go instructor with the Riverside Art Museum. I usually work with grades TK-5th but I've given art lessons to older demographics as well. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Slow and steady. I believe the first thing in teaching is reviewing what you already know! Only then can we decide what needs to be improved on.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently an art student myself working on a BA. I may not have any background in teaching but I have a background in Art. With that said, I know the fundamentals of art such as compositon, color theory, anatomy etc. and will try my best to teach you what I know.

How did you get started teaching?
I teach my fellow classmates when they are struggling. I have tried in the past making a foundation for artists alike both in my community and online but have had no luck finding people who are truly curious and humble for the arts.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students who are inexperienced with materials as well as brainstorming with ideas.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Going to the hammer museum with club members back when I was the secretary of the art club at my college campus. It was great to be exposed to a lot of artists at once and discuss how certain paintings and sculptures affected us and our thoughts.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with someone who has a lot of patience to work with you. It's even better to go with one who has been in your shoes before.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of medium do you want to learn more about? Do you know any professional artists by name? Does your art lack depth? Struggling to draw hands? And lastly, maybe find out what your strengths and weaknessess are as an artist.
