What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask them questions, if they have any fears or concerns, and try ease the situation... show the teens how to breathe and relax.
Once in the car, I point out the controls on the car that DMV expects the teen to know.
Keys: relax and breathe, walk them through the process of what DMV expect from them...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I been a driving instructor for over 8+ years. Worked for big driving School like Driversed.com(7 years) and i worked for mom and pop driving school( 1+ years).
I have a business degree at Cal State Hayward and I have a CIS degree at University of Phoenix.
Base on my careers, I learned to break down the rules and steps in the simplest form. I write everything down for the students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1 lesson is $200 total( each lesson is 2 hours )
3 lessons package for teen $500( 6 hours + certificate)
10 hour package is $900

How did you get started teaching?
After years in the computer industry, I needed a break. I was on Craigslist and saw a job offer: teaching kids, schedule your own time... I applied 8+ years ago and I fell in love. It is a hobby for me; a saying goes, " do what you love and you will never work in your life. "
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with adults, 18 years old and I had a 94 years gentleman; an amazing man. Some adults came to the Bay Area from India and China for work.
As for teens, I worked with ADHD teens.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Just taught an adult(50) who came here for a Facebook job. She has a PHD in linguistic and she can speaks 8 languages. She lived in Europe most of her life and in school. She had a fear of driving but after working with me, she now has a new Jeep and cruising our beautiful bay area cities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You need to ask the school questions:
What will the instructor teach me?
How long have youbeenteaching?
Do you like your job?
Be up front with the school, tell them your fear and your situation.
Make sure the school and instructor understand your needs.
Remember it is a two-way communication lesson.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The students need to understand not all instructors, schools are the same.
Be honest with the instructor so the instructor can work around your needs.
Students must practice after the lesson. Keep track of your hours and let the instructors know. If the instructor understand you they can help better.
Be upfront and be honest.
