I've developed easy techniques to teach painting. I make it as easy as coloring with paint. I offer to presketch a design of your choice on a canvas. You can skip the drawing and paint within the lines. I also can offee a side by side step by step lesson on how to achieve the look you're going for.  I show you the importance of switching brushes and how to load the brush correctly to have more precision when painting.  I will show you how to mix colors, how to shade, and how to make things look more vivid with highlights.

My daughter is a young aspiring artist. When she feels stuck, insecure, or needs to meet a deadline for her artwork she only goes to Sable. Thats our go to, for the central valley. Not only is she extremely artistic, she comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Very easy to talk to, very compassionate and intuitive. My daughter is very picky and Sable, so far, has been the only teacher she will allow to instruct her. We love you!

I love the painting lessons with Sable. It allows me to let my mind flow for free and be creative in ways that I might not normally be able to be creative. I’m not an exceptionally talented artist, but the way that she instructs brings out the very best of me. She teaches both one on one and in groups, making it easy to learn and follow. I have been in classes where there is a pattern on a canvas to follow and I have been in classes where you paint the pattern yourself and then on the other side of it you can step back and say, “wow did I do that?” It is Sable‘s exceptional method of communication and patience that makes these classes both so much fun and educational. I look forward to the next one, and would recommend these classes to anyone beginner, intermediate, or advanced.

Sable is a fantastic artist and a great teacher, my wife and I have been going to her for years. Even when my wife thinks she has messed it all up Sable knows exactly how to get her back on track and show her how a little mistake can be the perfect way to turn art into a masterpiece.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

It depends on the student and their skill level.

First I talk with them about what they would like to learn to paint.  If they have a specific image they really want to learn to paint I will take that image and sketch it on a canvas for them.  Then I can help them step-by-step learn how to painted in and make it as easy as coloring.  I teach them how to mix colors, which brushes to use, how to load their brush properly, how to make smooth lines and how to create texture.
