Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first lesson, I have a conversation with my student to understand their background with music, as well as their goals moving forward. Once we've been introduced and that has been established, we can work on your specific goals and also expand on your existing strengths. My main goal as a teacher is to always be there for whatever you want to improve on, or to provide resources and support whenever needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently studying at The Juilliard School and Columbia University, and also studied clarinet performance at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts for four years.
As a teacher, I have experience teaching through Through the Staff, an online program that provides music education to students who wouldn't otherwise have access either due to the COVID-19 pandemic or otherwise, as well as privately in my hometown (and online).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per hour of instruction
How did you get started teaching?
My first time teaching was in elementary school, when my best friend needed some help with her music and we would meet up to work on it together. I started giving private lessons in high school, and have been teaching since then.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of varying levels-- I am comfortable working with beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Always stay excited! Music should be a fun, engaging activity, and I hope to help with making it even more of a poisitive and fulfilling experience for you.
