How did you get started teaching?
Teaching has always been part of my practice. I learn with my students, discovering new things about the body constantly. I bring my teaching with me into my performance and choreography. I started teaching immediately out of college and have been teaching movers of all ages and experiences since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've coached everyone from beginners to professional dancers.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
In looking for a movement coach you want someone who can tap into the joy of the experience. Exercise and dance training can be hard work, but that doesn't mean we can't laugh through it :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself what your goals are, both short term and long term. Ask how much time you have to devote to those goals. Are you prepared to instill new habits and routines into your life?
