About

Most think drawing is a gift that has to come naturally. You will be surprised to see that drawing is a skill that can be learned with practice. I can teach you how to draw utilizing techniques that teach you to draw what you see, not what you think you see.

I believe in developing the inherent talent that everyone possesses. Finding strengths, while developing a "skill set" to successfully create art in whatever medium (sketch, charcoal, acrylic, pastels, etc.) you wish to explore and subject matter that includes, but not limited to, Landscapes, Portraits, Figure, Still Life, Animation, Animals, Perspective, and Anamorphic Art.

I design my lessons specifically to the student and don't believe in a cookie cutter approach towards teaching.

Each student is unique and special.

To see samples of my Private Students, as well as my FUNdamentals Academy Students Artwork...

I have a website called InsideTheOutline.com

I also post step by step instructions for my Art 1 & Art 2 students projects, as well as insights and tips for aspiring artists.

I am also affiliated with Home School Coaches, where I offer my classes to Charter School Members from Sky Mountain, Sage Oak, California Enrichment Academy, Inspire, Gorman, & Excel, Valiant & etc. My students report regularly to their Education Specialist on their Artwork and skill sets they’re learning.

I look forward to be given the opportunity to awaken the Artist inside of you or your children!

I love to teach! To be able to see the magical moments, when my students discover their inherent ability to create art! Watching their confidence grow and their ability to create beautiful artwork, is so fulfilling.

I feel blessed and honored to be a part of it!

We love Gina’s in depth Art knowledge and how she teaches our children ages 8-16 in a very age appropriate manner.
We also appreciate the way she builds great rapport with our children and their different personalities learning styles.

My daughter has taken art lessons with Miss Gina for approximately 8 years. Gina has taught her various art techniques and given her a good foundation. But Gina has also been an encouragement and inspiration. Thank you, Gina!

Gina inspires my children to explore new art mediums and to be creative in their choice of subjects. My daughters have won numerous sweepstakes awards and blue ribbons at the county fair for art projects, and I give Gina all of the credit for this. As a teacher, she is prompt, reliable, and trustworthy. She has my highest recommendation.

Gina has been teaching my son (10th gr) for almost a year and we are definitively going to continue. She is professional, kind, and encouraging. My son has gained skill, confidence, and enjoyment in art because of her lessons.

    Frequently asked questions

I find out their interests, what excites them, and if they've had art lessons before or if they have any artwork they'd like to show me. I let them see all the different mediums (sketch, pastels, etc.) and the all the different genres of artwork, I teach, the different subject matter they can choose from, and then show examples of artwork students have done. I think it's important to get to know my student, in order to teach them, because there are many different ways to approach a single idea or skill.

I’ve studied privately since I was 7 years old. I have 2 certificates: Fashion Design & Interior Design from Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas, a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The University of Texas in Arlington. I was a “Clean Up Animator” for Wong Studios for 5 years and participated in Art Shows in Hollywood and LA areas with great success. I got married and shortly thereafter, gave birth to boy/girl twins and stayed at home to raise them.

By far, that is the most important creation of my entire life.

When my kids went to Elementary School, I took over the “Meet the Masters” program for K-6th graders. I redesigned the program,  with my own slide show that consisted of 60-70 pictures of the Artists work. I held 4 assemblies (K, 1-3, 3-4, 5-6) for 700 students with 6-7 different Master Artists each year. I taught the Art Project related to the Artist, in addition to creating 4 Master Samples of each Art Project, for each level, for the School. I painted mural sized backdrops for the Schools Musicals every year. I accumulated 800 service hours, each year, during the 7 years my kids attended. I was given the “2012 Honorary Service Award” from the State of California from Monte Vista Elementary School in La Crescenta, California. I began a business called “Art Ala Carte” teaching Private Art Lessons to Home School & Public School Students in 2008, in the comfort of their homes, with all supplies included, to the present day. The mediums I teach are Sketching, Charcoal, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Colored Pencils, Watercolors, Acrylic, & Pen and Ink, in a variety of subjects that include, but not limited to, Still Life, Landscapes, Animation, Portraits, Figure Drawing, Animals, Perspective, Maps, State Projects, & Etc. Some of my students have been accepted to Ryman Arts Academy to study while I continue to teach them privately.  I have also created and taught Art Projects/Lessons for VBS’s throughout the area.

I began teaching at FUNdamentals Academy 3 years ago, offering Beginning Art, Art 1, & Art 2 classes with great success. I create new lesson plans and projects every year, so no lesson plans or projects are repeated.

I am also affiliated with Home School Coaches, where I offer my classes to Charter School Members from Sky Mountain, Sage Oak, California Enrichment Academy, Inspire, Gorman, & Excel, Valiant & etc.

I also offer and teach Private Art Lessons to Charter School Members as a Home School Coach. My students report regularly to their ES on their Artwork and skill sets they’re learning.
