Moonlight Studios

Moonlight Studios is the music production team of Jeff Lewis and David Vasquez.

David, with a degree in Piano Performance from CSUN, is an amazing piano player, teacher, arranger, composer, MIDI (computer) music programmer and music producer. Singers, songwriters and musical artists get their songs started with David in his recording room.

Jeff played 1st trumpet in UCLA's jazz band while earning his degree in Biology. He is now both a music producer/audio engineer and a top professional trumpet player. At the age of 23 he toured as lead trumpet player for Michael Jackson and his brothers, The Jackson's. He has performed with Johnny Guitar Watson, Lenny Williams (of Tower of Power), Tom Johnston (of the Doobie Brothers) Sister Sledge, Shiela E, The Coasters, The Drifters, Frankie Avalon, the Shirelles, on Soul Train with Bill Summers and Summer's Heat, Dick Clark Productions, R&B artist JOE, El Chicano, Malo. Currently and for the past 21 years Jeff has recorded with and toured with TIERRA. Jeff's trumpet teacher, Zeke Zarchy, was a long-time member of the Glen Miller Band and 1st trumpet for the NBC TV Studio Orchestra.

For 23 years Jeff taught music production and audio engineering at UCLA Extension. He was awarded the Dean's Distingished Instructor Award.

As a music producer at Moonlight Studios, Jeff gently guides vocalists to their very best performance while he expertly performs all audio engineering tasks. He artfully records all acoustic instruments, including live drums, guitars, horns, violins, cellos, percussion instruments... basically anything.

Then Jeff can edit, fix, tune, time-correct any little flaws in the performance so that the record will stand the test of time. He expertly does the final mix. Reaching into a whole other bag of tricks, Jeff also specializes in final mastering for commercial release.

Jeff's time has always been a balance between recording studio activities and a robust live performance schedule. To be honest, suddenly all live performances have been cancelled due to this virus. Jeff now has the time available to offer lessons online from his studio.
